Nickel & Rye was founded by two friends in search of one thing — a place to call home. Frankfort is a place we want to call home, and we want to reinvest in this community so we can watch a seed we plant grow. We're going to do that the best way we know how: with food.
Between us, we've spent thirty years in the business, and the masterminds behind the grill bring another forty. We pour all of it into a welcoming room where neighbors can truly gather and break bread together.
Our name is a nod to the Nickel Plate Railroad — the steam-and-steel line that ran right through Frankfort — and to rye, the grain that fed this state and the whiskey that warmed its taverns. We take our cue from the agricultural history of Indiana and the railroad legacy that built this town.
