Nickel & Rye | Our Story

Rooted in Frankfort, built to gather

Nickel & Rye is a pub and eatery on North Main Street in Frankfort, Indiana — named for the railroad and the grain, built by two friends who wanted somewhere to call home.

The name and what it carries

The Nickel Plate Railroad was the iron spine of Frankfort — steam and steel that moved people, grain, and commerce. Rye is the other half: the crop that fed the state and, in time, found its way into the tavern glass.
Two Friends, One Town

Two Friends, One Town

Brady and Darian didn't open Nickel & Rye just to run a restaurant. They wanted something better for Frankfort, and a place to raise their own families. Both are dads with young kids, and they missed the kind of spot where families sit down together, neighbors stop to say hello, and dinner is something you share. Nickel & Rye is their way of bringing family dining back to the square.
What the kitchen turns out

What the kitchen turns out

Midwest beef hand-pattied and char-grilled, a pork tenderloin fried golden, pulled pork with house coleslaw, soft pretzels with beer cheese — honest Americana, cooked right. Indiana spirits anchor the bar, and the cocktails don't try too hard.

A Seat for Everyone

Don't get it confused. Yes, we have our bar side, but we have our family side too. History lines the walls in a black-and-white collage of Frankfort's past, and there are memories waiting to be made at every table. Bring the kids for dinner, gather your group in our private room for up to fifty, or grab a seat on the patio when the weather holds. Walk-ins are always welcome. Whoever you are, we have a seat for you.
